Jim Alloway has been providing practical, cost-effective solutions for quality and productivity problems since 1974. Jim has earned a reputation as a world-class trainer, specializing in getting people with little formal experience comfortable and productive in data analysis techniques.
He held senior engineering positions in a Fortune 250 company and is a former faculty member of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s College of Engineering and School of Management, as well as Syracuse University’s College of Engineering and Interdisciplinary Statistics Program.
He has been providing training and consulting services in Lean Six Sigma for 20 years and is equally at home in manufacturing and service organizations. His consulting work has taken him throughout the United States, Canada, England, Scotland, France, Germany, Switzerland, India, and South Korea.
Jim holds a BS in Industrial Engineering, an MS in Management Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Decision Sciences and Engineering Systems, with a concentration in Manufacturing Systems. He is a Fellow of the American Society for Quality and a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. His is an active member of the American Society for Quality, the American Statistical Association, and the Institute of Industrial Engineers. Jim is a past president of the Syracuse, NY sections of ASQ and IIE. In addition to his professional experience, he has served as a Boy Scout leader and Advanced Emergency Medical Technician for more than 20 years each.
Recent Experiences
- Deliver Lean Six Sigma training and coach projects for clients in steel manufacturing, telecommunications, and city government.
- Deliver DOE (Design of Experiment) courses and project consulting for R&D organizations in automotive, food, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics.
- Develop and deliver a course in process management for executives.
- Develop a comprehensive framework for performing statistically designed experiments.
- Provide numerous presentations to professional associations and international conferences on quality and productivity topics such as Manufacturing Systems Engineering.
